Why you should nominate yourself TODAY at www.usft.org/nominate

USFT in a Nutshell

USFT is a national network of student organizations advocating Fair Trade principles, products, and policies.

·       First, we organize--we work to consolidate and coordinate the power of the over 150 active student Fair Trade organizations in the U.S.

·       Second, we nurture leadership development and capacity-building, primarily through intensive international exchanges and skill-building conferences.

·       Third, we serve as a resource to student affiliates looking for anything from strategic campaigning advice to internship opportunities.

Put together, USFT is a comprehensive global justice organization that is not only working to develop a new generation of Fair Trade leadership, but is also contributing substantially to the movement.

What Are We Doing Here?: Launches April Tour on Foreign Aid Effectiveness

This April 4th - 30th, documentary filmmaker Tim Klein and Americans for Informed Democracy Global Development Campaigns Coordinator, Sarah Frazer, are touring college campuses throughout the US South to screen the film What Are We Doing Here? The topic: the failure of foreign aid to solve poverty and what we can do to revamp US development assistance into a powerful tool for the 21st century.

The film tells the story of Brandon, Nicholas, Daniel and Tim Klein who travel 15,000 miles from Cairo to Cape Town in an attempt to uncover the true nature of foreign aid in Africa. Could our good intentions be causing more harm than good? Have humanitarian interventions prolonged suffering? Who is actually benefiting from our good intentions? Talking with aid workers, politicians, local journalists and other inspiring individuals tackle issues of famine, war, and disease affecting hundreds of millions of people across the continent.

Each event will include Q&A, discussion of current opportunities to modernize US foreign assistance, and what students can do to support effective development policy and practice for a more stable, prosperous and sustainable world. Please find the tour schedule below.
